What the tradition actually names
Pisces is 180 degrees from Virgo. Sagittarius and Gemini are 90 degrees away on either side. These three exhaust the hard angles to Virgo, which is why the list never varies.
All four signs are mutable, ending their seasons, and this gives the friction a specific texture. Nobody digs in. Positions are revised, terms are renegotiated, and the same disagreement reappears in a new form a month later, which is exhausting in a way the word worst does not capture.
Mercury and Jupiter, in four positions
Virgo and Gemini both belong to Mercury; Pisces and Sagittarius both belong, in the classical scheme, to Jupiter. So the entire Virgo difficulty list is one pair of planets arranged around the wheel.
